Starting to feel like Spring for our outdoor activities. Relatively quite meeting. Ventures are finishing up their 2 day leadership training session. The Scouts also had an outdoor picnic at Ed Levin Park that was a wonderful summary of their many weeks of Leadership Training also! A splendid sunny Spring day for community service. Our troop returned to the Vietnamese Heritage Garden to help make it look beautiful again. We've adopted this site with a few Eagle Scout projects and annual community service here. Lots of hard work by our billy goat scouts mowing down all those weeds. Thanks to all the parents who came out and for bringing us an ice cream treat! This was such a fun weekend! Cub Scouts are getting worked on formations by Chi Khanh. Scouts are learning some fun tote n chit training - How can it not be fun playing with knives, axes, and saws??? What could possibly go wrong? Venturing crew doing some lashings and pioneering work to see who's stick is bigger - good stuff all around! Routine meeting after a fun filled Bear Paw trip. Scouts with more training. Parents meeting and forming our soon to be awesome Parents Support Team! The Scouts also went on a first time adventure in the Snow to the Bear Paw event in Cisco Grove. We had an amazing time playing in the snow, sledding, building a snow shelter, and having a good old fashioned snow ball fight. It was an Epic trip and we look forward to making this part of our tradition! The Venturing Crew continued a great tradition and made the trek up to Lake Tahoe for a memorable winter snow trip. The pictures and video are amazing. Tahoe Video One of our first full meetings as a merged unit with girls and boys in the scouting program together. Every group is diligently preparing for our Winter Snow trip the following week. Of course we'll squeeze in some scout fun as well. We celebrated the Lunar New Year Tet with our larger Scouting Community at Silver Creek High School. A wonderful time for all. Fun games, good food, and some li xi! Chuc Mung Nam Moi!!! To kick off the new year, today we embarked on a new adventure with many new bridging ceremonies. We had cub scouts move on to boy scouts, boy scouts graduate to venturing scouts, and perhaps the biggest move up all was to welcome our girls scouts to the larger Scouting movement. Many new boys and girls took on leadership roles and continue to grow each and every day with LDBD. |
